Look in the sky…is a bird, is it a plane? No, it’s WonderMom!

As I am typing this, my son is screaming to the top of his lungs because for some insane reason, he is obsessed with my computer keyboard and I won’t let him play with it. “Everyday I hads to fight, I love Sammy, but i’ll beat him b’fo I lets him lay a hand on my Mac” (color purple reference). LOL! But for real, I am multi-tasking like crazy these days.

Being a mom is rewarding, but as many of you know, it comes with it’s challenges, long nights, longer days and headaches. Sometimes I wish there were two of me so that I could get more done. It’s easy to feel like you’re not doing enough, but as long as your baby is happy and healthy, you are doing FANTASTIC. Say that to yourself out loud because I just did.

I AM ENOUGH! I AM A FANTASTIC MOM! I AM WONDERMOM!

Say it out loud again…that felt great right?! We always have to say the opposite of what we feel in that moment. Speak good things over yourself, and over your child and you will receive good things. *insert praying hands*

This weeks look is all about caped dresses. I had a friend ask me the other day were they still in fashion and I looked at her and said, “anything that hides my stomach will always be in fashion”. I love them because it adds a bit of drama to a boring old shift dress and it can also help “camouflage” those problems areas such as big hips, wider waist lines and that stubborn tummy.

Also, if you are pregnant and looking for the perfect shower outfit, they are perfect.

Kim K wore these a lot while she was pregnant and she always managed to look chic and comfortable. Now, I can’t afford her designers, but I will definitely list a couple of great shift dresses I have found that work great for that girl on a budget. I found my gorgeous caped Gianni Bini Dress (size 8) and I paired it with a black embroidered bag and some Betsey Johnson stilettos.

So, what are your thoughts on the whole caped look, would you ever wear this style and have you ever worn this style? Comment below and let me know and check out the links to some affordable fashions down below. FYI in the middle of the shoot, Sammy threw up all over my dress. That’s the large stain at the bottom of my gorgeous dress in the last picture. *deepsigh*

PARTY OF 3!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING LOVES!

It’s been a while since i’ve posted anything and today seems like the perfect day to begin again.

So, I had a baby! LOL! I took a break to enjoy my pregnancy…plus, I was so huge, I couldn’t fit into anything anyway. I went from a nice 135lbs to a whooping 196lbs before my 8lb baby boy made his debut. When I say that baby Sammy was a surprise….HE WAS NOT PLANNED! BUT, VERY WELCOME!

7 months!Pregnancy Shoot

We found out we were pregnant on my parent’s 24th wedding anniversary and nothing was the same afterwards. Pregnancy was not what I expected. I wanted that pregnancy glow everyone talks about…but, what I got were chin hairs, vicious acne, stretch marks, severe acid reflux and LOTS of extra fat.

Still, Samuel Krisitian Ford came out a health baby.

Ready to PopD-Day. At Brookwood HospitalFresh Out the Womb

He was 4 days overdue and STILL didn’t want to come out so I ended up having to get a cesarean. Now, i’m just trying to heal and enjoy my little family.

Today, Sammy is 3 weeks old and gaining weight every single day.

He is the joy of our lives, he is the reason for my reason for lack of sleep, the reason I smell like vomit and urine all day long and the reason I am constantly smiling (how did I get so lucky?).

He is my new reason for existing. So this Thanksgiving, I want to take time out to say how thankful I am for my little Ford family and this blessing God has bestowed on Samuel and I.

I hope you all are enjoying time with your families and all that good home cooking. I pray that your homes are filled with joy, peace and much love.

Happy Thanksgiving…Love you, Mean it!

A Stripped Affaire

Mixing colors and patterns is fun!

But, It has to be done right. My little niece loves to do this–she puts on everything she can find in her closet and wants to walk out the door with a huge smile on her face. She’ll put on neon tights with a floral dress, add a stripped jacket and twirl around like the cutest thing on planet earth. I sometimes laugh at what she has on because she’s so young, she doesn’t realize that even though they look cute individually, together they are a hot mess. Still, mixing prints and colors can be really awesome when done the right way. I decided to tackle this look in this new post.

I purchased this Gianni Bini stripped romper from Dillard’s and found a beautiful stripped Nine West bag to compliment it. The bag looks good next to the stripes on the romper and the colors look great together. I put a blue fluff keychain on it and tied it all together with a pair of thigh-high boots. The colors not only compliment each other, but help pull each other out. I really love this simple look. What are your thoughts?

Let me know how you like to mix colors and patterns and If you want to recreate this look, tag me in it on Facebook: Emma Ford or Instagram: Oluwafunmifly. I cannot wait to see all your looks.

Have a great weekend Lovies. Love you, Mean it!

Spring Has Sprung!

Spring is in the air! How exciting!

One of the best colors this Spring 2016 is Rose Quartz.rose

You can check out the other colors for this season on Pantone’s website. I remember I used to HATE pink when I was younger. Now, I can’t get enough of it. I even bought my husband a Salmon-colored button down shirt and after complaining about it for a week, he fell in love with it and wears it all the time now.

With that being said, I wanted to start off March with my favorite color. After putting on my yearly Winter weight, i’m always looking for new ways to hide the extra lbs (lol). My juicy arms are the first things to get bigger so I love any dress that can cover them up and make me feel less self-conscious. This dress did the trick. The chiffon material wears so easily and the pleats add definition and helps hide trouble hips. This dress is about 3yrs old, but I have links to some great chiffon dresses below. I paired this dress with a vintage bag, a popping red fringe sandals and a red lip. Let me know if you want to recreate this look. You can tag me in it on Instagram: Oluwafunmifly or Facebook: Emma Ford and I will repost it. Let’s March ahead and make this month Marvelous, Merry and Major.

Camo-Combo

Why is it so bad to stand out and be different?

I talked to this young girl the other day who was crying because no one at school liked her and wanted to be her friend. I thought back to when I was a kid and all I wanted to do was read. I had so many books. Whenever my dad would go out of town, he would bring everyone a gift. They always wanted candy or trinkets, I just wanted a book. So, I was labeled a nerd and I never quite fit in. My older sister, on the other hand, fit in perfectly. She was so bold, fun and everyone wanted to be her friend. I wanted to be just like her when I was younger.

But, being different is good! Ask anyone who was ever different growing up, it’s not all that bad. It may not feel like it when you’re that young, but believe me, you are the way you were meant to be. I gave the little girl a big hug and told her how different I was when I was a kid. Then I asked her, “do you think i’m weird now?” She still said yes, lol, but she said that she wanted to be weird like me. I told her that no matter what anybody says about her, she was perfect just the way she was and that she would grow up to be even more perfect. We have to remember that uniqueness is a beautiful thing. If we were all the same, if we all looked, talked and acted the same, the world would be a very boring place. Never Blend In. Always Stand Out.

Now, the only way that blending in is good is when you have on Camo…lol! My gorgeous friend Jenai is obsessed with Camo and got me obsessed as well. I found a gorgeous pair of Camo pants and paired it with a half jacket, a coat and my favorite pair of heeled sandals. Let me know what you think of the look and how you like to wear camouflage clothing.

Hey, if you have a picture of you in a pair of Camo’s or want to recreate this look, email it to funmis1@gmail.com or tag me in it on IG and i’ll feature it. Instagram: Oluwafunmifly / Snapchat: Oluwafunmifly / Facebook: Emma Ford

Jump-Jump

Who doesn’t love a great jumpsuit?!

kelly

If you watched the Grammys, you got to see actress Kaley Cuoco of the Big Bang Theory in a beautiful white sparkling jumpsuit.

It was stunning. It elongated her legs, showed off her awesome toned arms and beautiful physique. She rocked that jumpsuit. She kept the jewelry minimal and only added a simple clutch to complete the look. This was one of my favorite looks of the night.

Jumpers are fantastic because you can wear it so many different ways. You can pair it up with heels for a night out or wear them with flats for a day of running errands. They are a versatile piece of clothing to have in your closet and fairly inexpensive. I found a gorgeous plum colored jumpsuit with a sweetheart neckline that fit perfectly and looked FANTASTIC. I topped it off with a Kristen Blake coat and a fur collar. Now my jumpsuit is sold out but there is a great option B from Asos for only $26.00. I put the links for each item at the bottom of the pictures. Check it out.

Let me if you’re into jumpsuits and how you like to wear yours. Also, what were your thoughts on the Grammy’s last night? Comment below and let us know.

Little Loves!

Happy Early Love Day!

I remember, when I was younger, my dad would bring home flower, a card and cash for my mom every Valentine day. Then he would go to his car and come back out with a teddy bear and a rose for me and my older sister. He’ll never understand how much we appreciated it. It made us feel so loved and it’s something i’ll never forget. I don’t even think he understood what that little $7.00 bear did for our self-esteem and self-worth.  His little thoughts of kindness not only showed us how much he loved us, but how a true man was supposed to treat a lady. He never missed a Valentine Day. Now that i’m married, I know that I want my husband to carry on this tradition with our little girl one day.

Now, I know that there are a lot of women and men that never had anyone show them that kind of love or really care about them like that, and I pray that you will meet someone one day who will love you with all their heart. Until then, remember that you have someone who died for you and loves you very much. His greatest gift was His son. You are very much loved.

I decided to do this shoot with some of my favorite little kids. I borrowed my two nieces and my Godchild since I don’t have kids YET (don’t worry dad, they’re coming). I had a lot of fun with these precious little girls and wanted to show them how precious, beautiful and loved they are. If you have a little girl, remember to remind her that she is perfect and loved.

I pray this Valentine day is a good one for you and that no matter where you find yourself, you are content and happy.

Love you all…Mean it!

I hope this helps you in finding something perfect for your valentine day look. Don’t forget to try other styles like a jumpsuit or even a skirt. Whatever feels good to you and looks great on you, try it out.

Here is a look at how I would dress my husband if he would allow me to…LOL. But he has such great style already, I can’t complain. I love this monochromatic look:

Does your husband or boyfriend let you dress them for special occasions? So, would you dress him in this look? I like it because it’s so clean and crisp and would tone down the bright reds and pinks that I would definitely be wearing.

I can’t wait to hear from you all about your V-day plans and what you plan on wearing.

Don’t forget about the All-red look I did at the beginning of the month. Check it out and scroll all the way to the bottom for the links for the look: Hello February

A Furry Situation

What does it mean to love yourself?

The other day a girl came up to me and told me that I had such great cheekbones and facial structure. I laughed it off and told her she must not see my double chin and fat cheeks. She just looked at me like she couldn’t believe I was saying that about myself.

After she left, I thought about the conversation. What would it have hurt me to just say thank you and happy that someone thought I was pretty. I should have been proud to be complimented by a total stranger. But I chose to point out my flaws so that she wouldn’t point them out first. I think sometimes we have a harder time seeing the beauty in ourselves than others do. Yes we have flaws, everyone has flaws; even the most beautiful people in the world have flaws. But, we don’t have to focus on them…we can choose to see the beauty despite the flaws

So, since this is the month of February, the month of love, let’s choose to love ourselves. Let’s choose to see our beauty and embrace our goodness. Comment below and let me know what you love best about yourself.

For me, the best part of myself, besides my mind, are my legs. They are not supermodel legs, but they get me where I need to go and they are shapely. Nothing brings them out better than an amazing pencil skirt. I found this Eva Mendes pencil skirt from New York and Company. I love the faux leather look and paired it with a simple blue off the shoulder top. This off the shoulder look is one of the top trends for 2016. I put on my favorite faux fur coat and these gorgeous Steve Madden jewel studded pumps.

Let me know what you think of this look and remember to comment below what you love most about yourself. Also, what are your plans for Valentine Day. I have a whole post on ideas for the day: Hello February.

Blue Vibes

How are your goals coming along so far?

It’s only January so don’t worry if you haven’t begun yet, but Please, Please begin. I’ve not been posting as much because I’ve been in the process of looking for a new job and opportunity in my new city of Birmingham, AL. Send up a prayer when you think of me.

vulcan-park-and-museum

Otherwise, I’ve been enjoying my new city a lot. I live in Hoover and right across from the Galleria Mall. l finally did my first shoot here in the city and I am in love with this little spot called Vulcan Park. It has great views and literally overlooks the entire city.

I paired my LBD (Little Blue Dress) with a tan trench and tan thigh-high boots. I absolutely love this look. It’s effortless and great for a night out on the town or a day out with the girls. The dress itself can be worn in so many different ways and is very flattering for any shape.

Let me know what you think about this look and how you would have worn it differently.
