Fuchsia.Passion

A strong and barely controllable emotion” is what webster defines as PASSION!

We all have once had a passion for something. Whether it was playing basketball, being an actor, being a doctor, being a lawyer, or being a singer, passion would keep us up at night and keep us dreaming during the day. Well, along the way, passion fizzles out. Life comes in and waters down the fire of passion and with time, we forget, we lose sight, and we move on. Now, it’s time to pick up those passions friends.

Remember, you don’t have to quit your life, your job, your day-to-day activities to pursue passion. You just have to find time to carve you a space for you and a space to pursue your passion. You can do it. Let me know what passions you have given up on and how you decide to pick it up and make those dreams a reality. The difference between dreams and reality is You. You make the dream work, so get out and work!

This look is my Fuchsia Passion. I found this gorgeous dress at the Ghetto Dillards (Dillard’s Outlet in Eastdale Mall). Being a new mommy, my arms are just not where I want them to be so I paired the dress with a stripped off-shoulder blouse, a folded faux-leather bag and black and white heels. This look is perfect for that special occasion. I have linked sites where you can buy that perfect evening outfit so check them out and tag me on IG: Oluwafunmifly  or FB: Houseofodara if you recreate this look. Don’t forget to comment and let me know what you think. Also, let me know what other looks you want to see and ask any questions you may have.

Look in the sky…is a bird, is it a plane? No, it’s WonderMom!

As I am typing this, my son is screaming to the top of his lungs because for some insane reason, he is obsessed with my computer keyboard and I won’t let him play with it. “Everyday I hads to fight, I love Sammy, but i’ll beat him b’fo I lets him lay a hand on my Mac” (color purple reference). LOL! But for real, I am multi-tasking like crazy these days.

Being a mom is rewarding, but as many of you know, it comes with it’s challenges, long nights, longer days and headaches. Sometimes I wish there were two of me so that I could get more done. It’s easy to feel like you’re not doing enough, but as long as your baby is happy and healthy, you are doing FANTASTIC. Say that to yourself out loud because I just did.

I AM ENOUGH! I AM A FANTASTIC MOM! I AM WONDERMOM!

Say it out loud again…that felt great right?! We always have to say the opposite of what we feel in that moment. Speak good things over yourself, and over your child and you will receive good things. *insert praying hands*

This weeks look is all about caped dresses. I had a friend ask me the other day were they still in fashion and I looked at her and said, “anything that hides my stomach will always be in fashion”. I love them because it adds a bit of drama to a boring old shift dress and it can also help “camouflage” those problems areas such as big hips, wider waist lines and that stubborn tummy.

Also, if you are pregnant and looking for the perfect shower outfit, they are perfect.

Kim K wore these a lot while she was pregnant and she always managed to look chic and comfortable. Now, I can’t afford her designers, but I will definitely list a couple of great shift dresses I have found that work great for that girl on a budget. I found my gorgeous caped Gianni Bini Dress (size 8) and I paired it with a black embroidered bag and some Betsey Johnson stilettos.

So, what are your thoughts on the whole caped look, would you ever wear this style and have you ever worn this style? Comment below and let me know and check out the links to some affordable fashions down below. FYI in the middle of the shoot, Sammy threw up all over my dress. That’s the large stain at the bottom of my gorgeous dress in the last picture. *deepsigh*

Hello Prime Day!

Hope you all had a great and successful week so far. Okay, so did you read my last post on Amazon Prime Day and did you do any damage to their sale and your debit card? If you didn’t, click HERE to read it and shop away! Comment below and let me know what your purchased or if you sat this one out. You can also always chat with me on IG: Oluwafunmifly or Facebook: House of Odara.

Okay, I have a really simple look for this week.  I found these bomb jeans on this great site called boohoo. Let me tell you about my new best friend… Guys, these jeans are the BEST. They stretch to the GAWDS. Okay thick girls, you know that feeling after Chipotle, and you have to suck your stomach in all the way to the car, and as soon as you get there, you pull the jeans down under your tummy so that you can make it home?!  These jeans stretch with your food baby, LOL!. You guys know I had a baby 8 months ago and unlike Kim K and Blac Chyna, I still have 80% of my baby weight to lose. So, I love anything with stretch and anything that is very comfortable. I’ve had them for a while and the pearls haven’t fell off and the color hasn’t faded. I bought a medium or 8/10…they shipped quickly and they were extremely cheap (SALE). Boohoo is always having sales so check them out. The link for the look will be listed below the pictures.

I paired these bomb jeans with a white high low shirt and a jean sleeveless jacket. I’m not linking a jean jacket because I would love to see what jackets you put with the jeans. Tag me in it on FB or IG for a repost. Remember, Style is all about finding what works for you. So, take some time out, grab a mirror and play dress up (you’re never too old or too young). I kept my accessories simple with pearl earrings and a cream and gold choker. I have linked another shirt on Amazon that I have already purchased in red. It was a great buy. I was 5 months postpartum and boy did that shirt hide all my flaws. This look is so simple and great for a night out with the girls, or a day at the office (if your office allows jeans during the week). The look was completed with my go-to-shoes for the summer that I found on Amazon. I wore them on my last post and these are a great buy because they go with everything…literally everything. Like I said before, purchase inserts for them because your feet do slide without them.

Okay, let me know if you recreate this look. Tag me on IG: oluwafunmifly or FB: Emma Searcy Ford and let me know. FYI BOOHOO IS HAVING 60% OFF MEN, WOMEN AND KIDS CLOTHES: CODE IS 60ALL!

FunFacts!

AA Club

Hello, my name is Emmanuella Oluwafunmilayo Searcy Ford and I am addicted to Amazon

Okay, in this day and age, a lot of people know how utterly BOMB Amazon is and how it makes the world go round. The best feeling in this world, beside my babies kisses, oh and my husbands…lol, is getting that box with a smiley face on the side on my doorstep. Amazon, oh Amazon, how do I loveth thee (Amazon 3:12).

Here’s the thing, If you’ve never purchased anything from the site, it can be really intimidating. My first time, I was so afraid the clothes wouldn’t fit and then I would just be stuck with something I didn’t like or something with horrible quality. Well, This post is for those who are Amazon virgins or have been burned by Amazon before and have given up. I am going to give you five easy steps on how to become Amazon-literate. First, of course, get an Amazon account. Better yet, sign up for an Amazon Prime account and let the shopping begin.

  • Always Always read the reviews: these are always found at the bottom of the page after you see the products. Just keep scrolling down and go past the recommended listings, the size charts and then you will find the reviews. You can see what actual buyers said about the products and some even put up pictures of them in the items. I always try and write a review every time I buy something. If it doesn’t have a review, buy at your own risk. FYI always make sure the positive outweighs the negative comments.
  • Be Specific: when typing in what you want into the search box, be as specific as possible. If it’s a coconut purse you’re looking for, make sure you type exactly that. For example, put in “Yellow coconut bag” or “White button down long sleeve shirt”
  • Check Sizing Chart: Okay, some of these sellers will be Chinese sellers or sellers from out of the country and their
sizing charts are always different. Chinese sellers always run smaller and not true to size so be careful. Right next to the place where you pick your size, they have a size chart that should have chest and waist dimension if it’s a shirt and other dimensions for pants or jeans. Always look at the sizing charts and again read the reviews. People will let you know if the items are true to U.S. size.
  • Discover Prime: Okay, Amazon has this great program called Prime. It’s a yearly membership that allows you to get the items with 2-day shipping. Man, last Christmas I had a field day last minute shopping. If you can afford it, Prime is the way to go. Prime accounts users don’t have to pay shipping and handling and you return things for free and again, two-day shipping.
  • Explore Amazon: Lastly, take time out and explore this marketplace. Just go in and put things into your shopping cart and type different items you would like to have and stare them into reality…LOL. Amazon notifies you if anything in your cart has gone down in price, so sleep and pray on those purchases. FYI Amazon just started a new program where you can try clothes out before you actually purchase it. With anything on Amazon you can always return the items and get your money back. They will send you the shipping label  and all you have to do is print it and take it to your nearest USPS. Amazon has made shopping so easy, you’ll actually enjoy it.

FYI July 11th is Amazon Prime day and it’s like Black Friday for the cyber world….aaahhhh. You have to be a Prime member to get these deals but you can sign up for a free trial offer and take part of the epic savings. I encourage you guys to take time out and explore what Amazon has to offer. I am putting a couple of hot items for the summer that is on my wish list so far or that i’ve already purchased. You will love the items. Click on the pictures and it will take you directly to the Amazon page:

These are all great summer looks that are under $50.00. Let me know if and when you decide to give Amazon a try and if these tips helped you at all. If you are looking for anything specific and want help searching, email me @funmis1@gmail.com and i’ll def help look and send you links. I’ll also do this again for the fall/winter and put some on trend looks for the season. Hey, should I do a similar post for the fellas? Let me know. Happy shopping loves.

Independence.Slay

Happy 4th. (insert fireworks emoji)

What are your plans besides eating yourself into a new pant size?! LOL! I plan on wearing some oversized pants, a sweatshirt and tennis shoes to every cookout so that I can eat with no food baby poking out. Now I know some of you will be too cute and I can’t wait to see the pictures of your family, food and of course, your outfits.

Moving one…I was looking up the definition of independence today and Webster defines it as “the fact or state of being independent.” 241 years ago, on July 4, 1776 America adopted the Declaration of Independence allowing us to live free of British rule (excuse the small history lesson, i’m going somewhere). So, we are celebrating another independence day and we are more than halfway through 2017. I want you to think of some of the things that you want to become independent of; some things that can no longer can go with you through this year.

I know we make goals every January and by February, and by the middle of the year, the list is somewhere under the bed or in a drawer. Well, let’s dust that list off and start to check off our accomplishments. Now one of my goals was to restart my blog and learn how to be the best at what I do. I also wanted to get rid of my baby weight and become INDEPENDENT of this body/baby fat…sigh! Every day in July, i’ve made up my mind to get a little closer to being my ideal weight and come a little closer to making my blog the best it can be.

So, let me know some of your goals that you have already accomplished and some of the goals you are still working on. Let me know what bad habits you’ve become independent of and which good habits you have picked up. Together, we can finish this year off stronger than we started it off.

I love to hear you guys talk back to me. If you have any fashion questions, email me @funmis1@gmail.com or comment below and I will get back with you. Let me know what you think of this 4th of July look. I found this little two piece at a thrift store and I had to have it. I believe it was made by someone and I paired it with a Ralph Lauren pajama top and one my favorite heels from Amazon. If you get these heels, you will need to get inserts because your feet slide all the way to the front and your toes will be touching the cement…no lie.

FYI: I have always shot my own pictures and edited them but as of July my new photographer is my little cousin Lauren Douglas. Check out her photography page on IG: LKamphotography. Also, you can click on the links below if you would like to purchase these shoes and the inserts you will need.

2-Way-1-Skirt

The first day of April…April Fool’s Day!

I remember last year I played the funniest prank on my big sister. I went and got this home pregnancy test that read positive every time, no matter what! I went by her office and acted like I was very scared and nervous that I might be pregnant. So she took me to the bathroom and said she would be with me as I took the test. Well of course I WAS PREGNANT! hahahaha!!!

My sister started screaming and I started screaming. I acted like I was so mad and not ready to be a mom and I stormed out of there. I promise you I was not a block away from her job when I started getting phone calls from my mom, my dad and my uncle. They were texting, calling, asking me how I was and how happy there were for me. By this time, I knew I had to tell the truth. I didn’t know how to tell them and I felt bad for having lied to them. So I did the only thing I knew to do…I had my husband call my sister to break the news…there was NO baby. It was not pretty. My sister didn’t speak to me for 3 days and I learned my lesson. Some pranks you shouldn’t pull.

Well, what are some pranks you’ve played for April Fool’s Day? Comment below and let me know.

Now this post is called Double Trouble because I teamed with my college friend and fellow fashionista KD of keepinupwithkd.com to show you two ways to wear our favorite Forever21 white pleated skirt. Go visit her site to see how she wore this same skirt. The skirt is super affordable and very cute for the summer.

It’s All In The Jeans

Jeans are a hard thing to wear. How many ladies agree with me on this?

Okay, so they’re either super tight on your legs and hips or too big around your waist. Finding the perfect pair of jeans is like finding the perfect man. But, when you find that one that makes you look slimmer, taller and more confident at the same time, you buy more than one of them. Everyone has their favorite brand of jeans and their go-to store to purchase them.

My favorite jeans right now are skinny distressed jeans. I’m not into wide-leg or bell-bottom jeans; they never look right on me. The moment I find a pair of jeans with a tapered leg and elasticity, i’m a happy girl. I found the pair i’m wearing at Ross Dress For Less. I paired it with a vintage color-block jacket and a pair of color-block Sam Edelman booties and a snake-skin leather Elliott Lucca clutch. The Lucca bag is sold out, but there is this great site called Postmark that you can sell gently used clothing, shoes, bags, etc. I have the link for this beautiful bag down below for 50% less than the retail price.

If you know any great places to buy well-fitting jeans, let us know in the comment section. Also, let us know how you  like to wear your jeans. BTW don’t forget Mother’s Day is right around the corner. Maybe you can get her a pair of great fitting jeans.

Love you…Mean It.

Jump-Jump

Who doesn’t love a great jumpsuit?!

kelly

If you watched the Grammys, you got to see actress Kaley Cuoco of the Big Bang Theory in a beautiful white sparkling jumpsuit.

It was stunning. It elongated her legs, showed off her awesome toned arms and beautiful physique. She rocked that jumpsuit. She kept the jewelry minimal and only added a simple clutch to complete the look. This was one of my favorite looks of the night.

Jumpers are fantastic because you can wear it so many different ways. You can pair it up with heels for a night out or wear them with flats for a day of running errands. They are a versatile piece of clothing to have in your closet and fairly inexpensive. I found a gorgeous plum colored jumpsuit with a sweetheart neckline that fit perfectly and looked FANTASTIC. I topped it off with a Kristen Blake coat and a fur collar. Now my jumpsuit is sold out but there is a great option B from Asos for only $26.00. I put the links for each item at the bottom of the pictures. Check it out.

Let me if you’re into jumpsuits and how you like to wear yours. Also, what were your thoughts on the Grammy’s last night? Comment below and let us know.

A Furry Situation

What does it mean to love yourself?

The other day a girl came up to me and told me that I had such great cheekbones and facial structure. I laughed it off and told her she must not see my double chin and fat cheeks. She just looked at me like she couldn’t believe I was saying that about myself.

After she left, I thought about the conversation. What would it have hurt me to just say thank you and happy that someone thought I was pretty. I should have been proud to be complimented by a total stranger. But I chose to point out my flaws so that she wouldn’t point them out first. I think sometimes we have a harder time seeing the beauty in ourselves than others do. Yes we have flaws, everyone has flaws; even the most beautiful people in the world have flaws. But, we don’t have to focus on them…we can choose to see the beauty despite the flaws

So, since this is the month of February, the month of love, let’s choose to love ourselves. Let’s choose to see our beauty and embrace our goodness. Comment below and let me know what you love best about yourself.

For me, the best part of myself, besides my mind, are my legs. They are not supermodel legs, but they get me where I need to go and they are shapely. Nothing brings them out better than an amazing pencil skirt. I found this Eva Mendes pencil skirt from New York and Company. I love the faux leather look and paired it with a simple blue off the shoulder top. This off the shoulder look is one of the top trends for 2016. I put on my favorite faux fur coat and these gorgeous Steve Madden jewel studded pumps.

Let me know what you think of this look and remember to comment below what you love most about yourself. Also, what are your plans for Valentine Day. I have a whole post on ideas for the day: Hello February.

Off-Shoulder Shirt: Charlotte Russe

NYC Eva Mendes Skirt: Option A- Forever21 / Option B: Asos

Steve Madden Galaxxie Pumps: Steven Madden

Fur Coat- Find one that’s affordable and comfortable. Try out local thrift or vintage stores

I pray that your weekend is Safe, Successful and Super. Love you all…Mean it!

Hello February

It’s the Month of Love!

Time for heart-shaped candies, Oversized teddy bears and lots of proposals. My husband actually proposed to me February 12, 2014. February is a beautiful month. Even if you are a single woman or man, there are still ways to celebrate. I know a group of single girls that do a “Girls Night Out” to celebrate the joy of being single and encourage each other. Find something like that in your area, or simply dress up and go out with a friend; you don’t have to sit at home lonely just because you haven’t found your special someone. Before we were both married, my bestie Brittini and I would go out and even buy each other gifts…LOL.

So, for my married women, what are your plans with your hubby? I need ideas and quick. I’m thinking a trip to Atlanta.

kim-kardashian-soho-new-york-city-balmain-blazer-dress-gianvito-ankle-wrap-pumps

Kim Kardashian West

I wanted to start out this month with RED!!!! And nobody does color better to me than Calvin Klein. The dress is a blazer style dress, which has been very popular lately. Kim Kardashian is seen here in a Balmain Blazer dress for $4,885.00. If you can afford it, please buy me one too.

My dress was NOT that expensive at all but it’s still super FLY. I’m so obsessed with this style and have worn a similar dress before. I found this one at IMG_8761forever21 and paired them with some Nine West heels and an oversized belt from Charlotte Russe. I will not blog this look because i’m blogging this red look that’s very similar.

Let me know what you think of this Hot Red dress and look and let me know about your valentine day plans and if you’re single, let us know some great things for singles in your area. Someone single might be reading this that needs something to do in your area.

Blazer Dress- Calvin Klein/Option B- Charlotte Russe /Option C- Missguided

Heels-  Gianni Bini Lilliana Striped Metal Bit Pumps/ Option B- Dillards or the Black Pair

So, let us know some of your V-Day plans, your goals for the month of February and your thoughts on this look. I pray that this month is fantastic, blessed and fruitful for you.
