Because I’m Happy

What does it mean to be truly happy? I remember when I was a kid, I used to be so moody, angry and pessimistic about everything. I never quite fit in any circle. I was from Africa, I was short, I had an accent, I was a nerd…and the list goes on and on. So, needless to say, I was never happy with myself or the world. Then as I got older, I began to become more comfortable with myself and to truly love myself.

I had to come to terms with the fact that no one can make me happy like I can make me happy. I know you’ve probably heard this before, but it is so true. I realized that if there was an area in my life I was unhappy with, I had to take an active role in fixing it…I had to find my own inner happiness. Yes, I was short. Yes, I had an accent. Yes, I was a book-nerd, but that’s what make me who I am. I was not meant to be like everybody else–and I should not want to be like everybody else.

Learning to be internally happy with yourself is the best gift you can give to yourself this holiday season. You may not have the man you want, the money you want, the body you want or the fame you want, but at least you are alive, you are capable and you have a future. So, when you’re feeling unhappy with yourself, or jealous of someone else’s happiness, remember all that you have, be thankful for it, and watch your attitude and feelings begin to change.

Above all, remember that no one can audition to be you, that role is already filled…so break a leg!

    You are so fabulous!!

Its so crazy that the things we absolutely don’t like being as kids are the things that make us unique and fun as adults!! 🙂 These days i love the accent, and the natural hair, and the African outfits, and the shortness lol.

That was awesome! Encouraging and full of life….When you have quite a few dead areas it’s surprsing when someone says something you’ve heard before but it only registars once….It’s so easy to be jealous of someone’s happiness and overlook your right now bc you hate the place you’re in…I never thought of being Thankful for my right now….honestly I’ve disregarded it for years…waiting for greater…I could go on but I won’t but I will try at being Thankful for my right now and the things I do have…I’ll work harder at finding the happiness within instead of in “the right man” “more money” ‘owning my own home” “the perfect job” or “what I thought my life would be…” So thanks Emma Searcy Ford for an Example of A Queen walking in her Element….
